Love Music Hate Racism

First of all an apology to all you London VJs I woke up on Sunday morning while trying to find a last minute replacement for Sundays Love Music Hate Racism carnival. Poor Jo had to drop out suddenly, see you soon Jo I hope.

Unfortunately no-one I spoke to was available but no matter the Punkvert pair and myself did a very long days VJ-ing. It was great fun, 12-3 on the main stage during the likes of The View, Hard-Fi and Jay Sean. I have to say it certainly was an experience to be VJing to a live speech by Tony Benn ;) My monitor played up so I couldn't see what I was doing and the OneDotZero guys (who were incredibly helpful and lovely) overlaid event logos and cut in branded animations and live cameras.

At 3 Punkvert took to the main stage and I rushed all my kit over to the dance tent. Now I could see my output on the main screen and I had an absolute blast until the end of the show. DJ Hype was mind blitzing and the visuals sat so very well with da old skool jungle innit.

Sadly there were safety concerns during Hype's set and they cut the music early. I could sense the racism start to rise in the audience after the music had stopped, most disconcerting.

6 hours of VJing on a Sunday in Victoria Park... bliss.

Not quite Gary. I was exaggerating just a little for comedic effect. It was actually quite successful as far as these things can be. And the smell of burgers drifting up onto the main stage was wonderful.
