Dodgy software download?

I downloaded a plug-in linked to the apple website to 'batch rename' my files. It put a droplet icon on my desktop and told me to drop a folder on there.

The folder went poof! and disappeared, no where to be found. It was like the icon ate it.

Later I found the link was not officially apple related.

Hmm... where did my folder go? It's so weird!

what's the plugin called?

It was called Batch File Rename 1.81. I don't really want to post a dodgy link on here so... dunno here's a pic. It looks totally legit... I did find a weird plug-in on my system preferences tho so I took that off and it seems to be ok now...
