Onyx-VJ, open-source Flash video mixer -contributors needed!

Hi folks,

It's my first post here, though I came down to the Horse and Groom last tuesday.

I just wanted to draw your attention to nice piece of software that is longing for a bigger community of users and developers...
Onyx-VJ (http://www.onyx-vj.com) is an open-source video mixer written with Flex, running in AIR. So far, it works pretty well under any platform (even Linux), can mix up to five layers of video/flash files, but it could do with some improvements, most notably in the way it handles midi input.

I'd be curious to know if anyone here knows of this soft, or has used it even...

I've used it a bit myself and I must say it's been rather well designed, the interface is ergonomic, and it's easy to learn. It's just a shame that there isn't a bigger community to support the project.

I was testing Onyx for a while - as it's another one flash mixer around, and I'm really into exploring the possibilites of flash as a vj-platform.

So far I think the Onyx is the best one, others are:
- flxer.net (big community, a/v possiblites)
- flashmixer.de (oldest one, very basic but still enjoyable)
- coo-coo (unavailble for public, but developed by one of the vj londoners - Lukas Vojir)

unfortunettly common problems are across all of these applications - the biggest one is performance (flash is not really hardware accelerated, even fp 10 is still like a protesis), also the problem with using midi (flxer has .exe version which does that, onyx handles things via .air) and lack of freeframe support

anyway have fun as I think this project is really well done as an example of application non-dependend-on-platform.
