Flip camcorders?

Fairly new to this game, and thinking about picking up a Flip HD with 8Gb for taking footage round London. Just wondered if this is what you might recommend: entry-level, HD, and only Ł150? I've heard good things about them, but would like to get a VJs perspective on this...

It really depends what you want to do with it. Do bear in mind that all HD really means is more pixels, not necessarily better quality.

Mowgli is right, what's also important is the ability to set up focus, white balance, etc. Also most common issue with mobile recorders is the "smoothness" and compression issues.

However whole thing looks interesting, especially the underwater case as accesory.

let me know how does it behave, if you decide to buy it. I recently do a lot of recording with strange mobile things...

i was commissioned to make a short video a few weeks ago for a mag doing a launch at ICA...I had to chase a performer running through Trafalgar Sq, Lecister Sq to Covent Garden...I got budget for Sony Z1 cam & bullet cam, client supplied 2 interns armed with FLIPS to get xtra footage...i could not use footage as while moving the video was shakey and blurry, performed badly in low light and would not play in FCP 6 on my Power PC G5 Mac...video was ok in bright light if stationary...

Client has since asked my recommendation for a better cam for their online interviews

After some research i've found the Panasonic HDC-TM300 to be very attractve!!

Yes, picked one up last week, seems alright. Decent quality image, childsplay to use - recommended :)
