The AV Social is a not-to-be-missed sporadic event especially tailored for fans of audiovisual performance, electronic music and new media artforms.
DJs, VJs, media savvy audiences and AV industry pro's gather here to view cutting edge work from emerging and established talents, as well as do a bit of social networking within the tightly knit AV community, at the crossroads between club culture and electronics arts.
Previous lineup artists have included The Light Surgeons, Meat Katie, AddictiveTV, 30 Hz, Vandal, Eclectic Method, D-Fuse, VJ Anyone, Ben Sheppee, Bijari, Justin Kent and many more.
Keen to take the pulse of this exciting scene, industry professionals also attend The AV Social in large numbers. They represent a wide range of bodies, from product manufacturers, club and label managers to funding trusts.
About The AV Social @ Late at Tate:
As part of the Late at Tate Series of events the audiovisual collective Ne1co present a very special ambient edition of London's number one audiovisual event, the AV Social.
Setting up camp amongst the dramatic backdrop of neo-classical sculptures and renaissance paintings at the 4,000 capacity Tate Britain you'll find installations, performances and screenings from some of the world's finest VJs and audiovisual artists. As an ambient soundtrack washes throughout the building you're invited to come and explore both the Tate exhibits and modern works.
Contemporary video artist Hiraki Sawa will be showing his very own playful and sensitive blend of miniature worlds in domestic environments, Rod MacLachlan and Jem Noble from Black Out Arts will be performing a live audiovisual work using light boxes, live cameras and live sampling techniques, while Bopa and Bruno Tait present a collaborative slide and video installation using moving head mirror projections.
The Ne1co audiovisual collective will host The AV Social's lounge and bar area,with ambient DJ/VJ set from Lazerboy, Bopa, Movement and a DVJ performance from Oli Sorenson (aka VJ Anyone).
Also featured is a specially curated screening and presentation by the Narrative Lab,inviting experimental creators to show works from artists all over the world including D-Fuse, Solu, Visual Kitchen, Addictive TV, Girrafentoast, Ben Sheppee, Visualnaut, Olga Mink, ZooZooZoo, Spark, Dr mo and Lucidhouse.
