Hi, I'm sure there are some other threads that ask similar questions, but my query is quite specific. I'm planning to buy a new laptop and i'm looking at spending under Ł1000 if I can help it. I'm not particularly bothered whether its a mac or a PC, just whatever is more suitable (I need it for video editing and live JVing). And the laptops that can deal well with both don't seem to come cheap!
I've been looking at a Macbook pro which has 8GB RAM and 2.4GHz dual core Intel i5 processor. I have 2 concerns though: it has a 256GB flash storage (SSD), is that enough storage or would i need an external drive, in which case would it still operate smoothly for a live VJ set? Also, it uses an Intel Iris integrated graphics card, and i've heard integrated cards can slow down the system - but overall, would this be a good option considering my budget?
The other option I was looking at was an Alienware model which has 8GB RAM, 7200rpm, 3.4GHz i7 processor and a NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M graphics card with 1GB GDDR5.
Any ideas which is the better option?? Or has any good laptop model suggestions? I also want to get the laptop that will last me the longest, and I've heard macbooks have a pretty awesome track record for that. But maybe PCs are just as long-lasting?
