following on from hexstatic's BFI IMAX retrospective comes the launch of their new dvd + cd combo
'hexstatic presents: videos remixes + rarities'
to celebrate over a decade of pioneering audio-visual entertainment, hexstatic are releasing a retrospective dvd and cd containing the very best of what they have created. covering over 10 years, there is more wit, invention and electronic funk contained here than in a lifetime of watching mtv.
the dvd contains the pick of hexstatics av videos going back to early experiments with coldcut including the natural rhythms trilogy 1996-98, on through cut-up classics like ninja tune, through world psych-funk on salvador and up to the computer animation of their later work. the dvd has, in true hexstatic style, an innovative main menu in which all the tracks appear simultaneously on the screen to create a completely new av mashup.
the cd is a treat in itself, including remixes by gamebreaker, kris menace, michael fakesch, dj kentaro, ivan l, and si begg; hexstatic remixes of coldcut and dj kentaro; and a dj lord fader turntable megamix; as well as previously unreleased tracks.
