Just curious what software setup everyone is using currently or about to...seems to be an exciting time with some new releases about to happen
I currently have VDMX & Arkaos on my Mac Book Pro laptop but need something more...
MODUL8 vs RESOLUME AVENUE arguments accepted and appreciated
I'm Modul8 all the way but I'm being tempted by VDMX for the Quartz integration.
Modul8 is in my opinion the most versatile of all vj apps. You don't even need content as you can create animations directly in it, it's great for mapping and even for production, you can make your on modules so it is expandable and there is a community constantly developing new ones and making them available for free, its multi-screen capabilities are awesome even with just a triple head, it plays quartz files natively (but more limited than VDMX)...
Why do you need something new? what are you missing with your current set up?
I'm strictly PC-based so I don't have really big choice of powerfull VJ apps - I use mainly Resolume version 2.3 (in my opinion is more stable than 2.4), with some of own development which are extending his functionality... Those additionals elements are done mainly in Flash and Max-MSP. Rarely I use Arkaos (not latest one - ver. 3. 5. 1)
I'm looking forward for Resolume 3, but I'm little bit worried about direction which guys have chosen...
