We run a couple of nights here in London, one of which is a new monthly at the infamous 333 club, in the heart of Hoxton.
We strive to achieve an audio-visual night, with high quality dance music and creative visuals through DJing and live performances, lighting and VJing.
Our resident VJ does a fabulous job and we are looking for one or two other VJs who will work with us on the monthly night, on new concepts, as well as work on the production of much larger, more infrequent nights around London. So we're looking for people who are happy to meet for a beer or two every few weeks and help us to create something different and exciting. The last thing we want is someone that just turns up, gives us 3 hours of screen savers then buggers off with a pocket of cash. We're looking for people with a vested interest in art, music and visual, and we're offering a platform and opportunity to be as creative as you can, capture the interest of hundreds of people and build a name for yourself.
Musically the 333 is split into two spaces. Downstairs is the basement, which is deep, dark and atmospheric, with a live act each month, based around glitchy, deep electronic music. Upstairs is contrasting, with the music emphasis far more on Fun. With a bit of an anything goes policy, so long as it's deep and high quality.
In the basement the visuals are different each month, from a light installation to straight forward data projection, it is our opportunity to go crazy. Upstairs is a basic set-up of three projectors onto screens (which are always fixed there and ready to go). So there's as much work as we chose to put in, one month it could be a case of turning up and plugging in, the next month we may completely transform the place and spend the afternoon setting up. We have most of the equipment, but we hope you would be willing to bring your projector.
Our resident VJ plays almost exclusively from film, so we are looking for at least one VJ that plays more abstract, CGI, form-based, minimal kinda style graphics.
The next gig is 11 July, the following one is 8 August. We will use a new VJ or two on 8 August, so please reply to me on alisdair.m@gmail.com as soon as poss, if this interests you. I don't wanna know your life history or every gig you've played before. It doesn't matter if you've been VJing for 10 years or 10 months, so long as you know what you're doing and have ideas and enthusiasm, get in touch and let me have a couple of stills or clips.
We would also like to offer a new VJ an hour or two at the 11 July gig if it is possible (we'll cover expenses, drinks etc!)
