Hi everyone,
my name is Riccardo aka Unity Selekta,I'm Italian(that's why my english is not perfect!) but I live in london , i'm reggae dj since long time, at moment i play every monday at the fridge bar(brixton)and every thursday at The Telegraph( brixton ).
I have been playing a lot in europe in the lasts years, in country like Italy, Spain and Germany, and i found some problems....
Reggae music is very simple and deep music, if you understand lyrics you understand the message, if you understand the message something will happend into your soul and you will love this music as a philosophy of life, more than just music.
In the last years reggae music is getting very popular in all europe but when the people doesn't understand english they don't really feel the message of this music, and for them reggae it's just a kind of music.
So my project is to intoduce for the first time(i don't have any record that somebody else did it before!!) visual and graphic art to reggae music, with the objective to focalize the attention of the audience to the message of the music, more than only the rhythm of the music(that the modern people say it's too slow!!!).
In this way we gonna touch the soul and heart of this people, and we gonna put this music to an higher level, hitting a larger number of people that maybe never listed reggae music before!
And of course to do this small reggae revolution I NEED YOU, Vjs and video makers, to build a brand new reggae dance, where for every song(which i will accurately select for the message that they have)is played together with his video.
In the video that you VJ will make will appear the main sentences and words of the lyrics, and this words will appear following the rhythm of the music.
The video itself will have the function to catch the attention of the crowd, the words will have the function to pass the message!
The message we will spread it's gonna be about peace,universal love, equality etc., and we gonna induce people to fight against prejudice, ignorance, corruption and hypocrisy.
The second step than it will be to add some lights games to improve the level of the show, in order to try to perform in Disco or clubs where the reggae music has never been before!
Then in october i'm organizing a 2 days reggae festival in east london, there we gonna present the project in front of a large number of reggae sound system from all europe, and we will see what's happend.....
All the VJ, video Maker, graphics, creative visual artist whom is interested in spreading a positive message to the world please contact me, so we can arrange some meeting beetween us and ....
